The Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is a mind-body method of healing and type of mindfulness meditation that uses your fingertips to tap on certain meridian (acupuncture) points on your head, face, and body with your fingertips while you focus on your breath, and the issue at hand. Tapping simultaneously works with saying certain phrases that relate to the emotional experience you are thinking of.
Benefits of EFT include releasing negative emotions and allowing for a more positive state of mind. It also may reduce stress and anxiety, lessen cravings, improve performance, decrease fatigue, improve sleep and work through fears. In addition, EFT may also help to increase feelings of happiness and well-being. EFT is also:
Easy to administer.
Less time needed.
Less traumatic. You do not have to talk about the issue. Simply use a word to describe it.
Work with an EFT Practitioner
The benefit of working with an EFT Practitioner is that you can focus on your emotions and be present, while someone is guiding you through your healing. In a sense, they are co-regulating with you, paying close attention to how you are progressing and ensuring you are tapping appropriately on each meridian.
